Downtown Auburn BID’s 23rd Annual Holiday Parade and Family Fun Day

Saturday, November 28th is the date of the 23rd Annual Holiday Parade and Family Fun Day sponsored by the Downtown Auburn BID (Business Improvement District). At 3PM the Exchange St. Mall, Genesee Mall, and ground level of the Parking Garage area will become the center of FREE family activities before the Holiday Parade at 6PM.

Join in for free horse drawn wagon rides with the Minturn family who will be providing three wagons this year in an attempt to get more people on this very popular ride around the city block. Once again the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting their Child Photo ID Program which is free. If you have a child who has not been entered into the program, or need an updated photo come inside the Genesee Mall for this very important community service.

Lively music will be provided by DJ Jane Stebbins on the Exchange St. Mall, and holiday music will be performed inside the Genesee Mall by the Cayuga Chords from St. Mary’s Church. Girl Scout Troop 1125 will once again give away their delicious homemade cookies as well as have their official Girl Scout cookies for sale. The Red Cross will give away hot chocolate to go with the homemade cookies.

Children’s activities such as ‘Go Fish,’ ornament making and coloring will be available. The Auburn Fire Department will host their Community Bonfire on South St. across from City Hall, and the Auburn Civic Band will play pre-parade music on Exchange Street.

Auburn Public Theater will host their Thanksgiving play featuring local child actors at 2PM and 4PM, with a small ticket fee for these performances. There will be raffles, coupons and much more. Daut’s will offer free chili samples at their restaurant on the East Hill between 5:30 – 6:30PM.

At 5:30PM claim your best spot to view the Holiday Parade. The Syracuse Highland Pipe Band will once again bring their glorious music to Auburn, with lighted instruments and two special songs created just for this parade. Several new entries into the parade will be competing with the loyal participants for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes.

Santa will be the grand finale, and after the tree lighting ceremony by Mayor Quill, Santa will be in the Genesee Mall to visit with every child, so bring your camera. If you would like to participate in the parade with a float, marching, or with music, everyone is welcome and it is free.
