The Eagle Has Landed at Moro’s Table
“Foodies” around the region have been patiently waiting for Chef Ed Moro to open his own restaurant, where he would have free reign to design his own menu along with the elegant atmosphere to enjoy his culinary creations in. A contemporary twist on a French Bistro, Moro’s Table opening reception in July was attended by throngs of people, coming from Rochester, Syracuse and Skaneateles.
With ground-floor experience as Executive Chef at Mirabeau Inn & Spa and Director of Food & Beverage at the Hotel Clarence in Seneca Falls, Moro now has a strong reputation and a huge following in the region. Moro’s Table is destination dining, right in downtown Auburn.
Just a few short months ago, Ed and his wife Beth purchased Bistro One, at 1 E. Genesee Street & Market Street. Although this business was relatively new, with all new construction, Ed and his wife Beth completely redecorated the interior, using a palette of soft greens and deep purples. The lighting is clean and contemporary, and zinc metal accents tie the whole look together. Yet, as refined as the menu and décor are, Moro wants to ensure that his customers are relaxed and casual.
The menu includes sushi and fresh seafood and a wide variety of appetizers. Traditional French salads include Salad Lyonnais and Salad Nicoise. Entrees come in small and large plates, offerings include duck, chicken, steak, salmon, lamb, pork, and you can even get an Angus burger. Plats du Jour are daily specials, like pork on Tuesdays, veal and risotto on Wednesdays, or lobster and seafood bouillabaisse on Fridays. In addition, there is a full dessert menu, plus after-dinner specialty cocktails, port & dessert wine. Moro installed a wine tap system, so patrons can enjoy a glass of expensive wine, without incurring the cost of buying an entire bottle.
“My favorite part of the experience was sipping on the French-pressed coffee at the end of a masterfully prepared and thoroughly gratifying meal,” said Tricia A. Ottley, Planning & Economic Development Program Manager for the City’s Office of Planning & Economic Development. The coffee they serve is a special blend prepared just for them by Creekside Coffee in Skaneateles.
Moro’s Table initial hours are: Tuesday – Thursday 5-9pm, Friday – Saturday 5-11pm. To make reservations, which is recommended, please call 315.282-7772. www.morostable.com
