SKANEATELES, N.Y. – “Medical manufacturer Welch Allyn has completed its global headquarters

expansion and renovation project. The company unveiled the new LEED Gold certified building

headquarters on State Street Road in Skaneateles on Monday. The $35 million project took

nearly four years to complete.

The LEED certification is awarded to buildings that are environmentally responsible. The new

headquarters gets 35 percent of its energy from renewable resources and reduces water usage

by 25 percent.

CEO Julie Shimer says project was about much more than helping out Mother Nature.

“It’s not just the environmental, but it includes the environment. It is a company that cares

about its employees, about its customers and about its community and I’m proud to be a part of

it,” Shimer said.

Eighty percent of the projects construction debris was recycled and 20 percent of building

materials used were recycled.” Written by YNNCNY web staff.
