Imagine Offers ‘Visions of Skaneateles’ “Visions of Skaneateles,” featuring watercolors by Lucie Wellner and photographs by James Peluso, will open 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 3 and run throughout August at Imagine, the fine arts and fine craft gallery at 38 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles.
The opening is part of the village’s First Friday celebration. Refreshments will be provided, along with entertainment by the Usual Suspects. Wellner, of Pompey, has been painting with watercolors since 1997. Her work has been seen in some 30 exhibitions throughout the region.
“Landscape is particularly enticing to me because in addition to offering the pleasure of being out of doors, it is where light can be at its fullest or most subtle,” she says. “In watercolors, color is subsumed under the force of light, revealing a reality that is both concrete and luminous, holding an aura that draws the viewer into the world of the painting.” Peluso, of Skaneateles, is owner of Alexandria Photography. His images in the show were “captured over a period of time, as I saw cool things when I was out and about in Skaneateles,” he says.
Imagine is located in the lakeside village of Skaneateles, nestled in the Finger Lakes region of Central New York. It represents artists from across the country and Canada, along with many Central New York artists, to create one of the most diverse contemporary art collections in the area. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
