Grant Dolge Exhibition Opens at Imagine An exhibition of watercolor and soft pastel paintings by Tully artist Grant Dolge will open 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 7 at Imagine, the fine arts and fine craft gallery at 38 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles. The opening is part of Skaneateles’ First Friday celebration. Refreshments will be provided, along with entertainment by the Usual Suspects. The exhibition runs through December. Dolge, the owner of Dolge Studio, paints landscapes from his travels in Italy, England and France, along with landscapes of Central New York. Other subjects include florals, seascapes, abstracts and still life. Although he has worked in a variety of mediums, he explains that soft pastel “is my most recent passion…because it’s a medium that provides immediate color results.” In creating his soft pastels, Dolge uses strongly colored paper made in France and Italy specifically for pastels, and several different brands of pastels, some of which are handmade. Dolge earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. After graduation, he studied with Fritz Trautman of the University of Rochester, “whose color theory of arranging a palette based on color wavelengths has influenced my painting the most,” he says. This will be Imagine’s last show of the season; exhibitions and openings will resume in May 2013. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, with extended holiday hours Dec. 12-24 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve day).
